Hi,
DownloadManager seems to be for any URL, not just Artifact, so I don't see
any issue here.
Mvnrepository.org[1] can give you an overview of projects using
maven-shared-io.

exist...I'm realively sure that those parts are handled or should be
handled by maven-artifact-transfer ?...

Furthermore currently it looks like only maven-assembly-plugin is using
maven-shared-io ...does someone know of an other usage ?
