Checked to build with Maven 2.2.1 => Does not work (really not a
problem...)...

Maybe the prerequisite should be upgraded to 3.0.5 ?
Checked to build with Maven like this:
mvn clean verify -Drat.ignoreErrors=true
(rat.ignoreErrors is related to the already mentioned DEPENDENCIES file
which is not part of the exclusion list for apache-rat-plugin):
with the following versions:
3.0.5, 3.1.1, 3.2.5, 3.3.9 worked, got a message like this:
