Hi all, I’d like to give you an update about our progress with regards to the surefire support of JUnit 5. I didn’t have much time to work on this over the past couple of month, so please forgive me that it was quite quiet around this topic lately.
I’ve talked to Tibor about the next steps in IRC. We’ve agreed to target the 3.0 release with JUnit 5 support. So we won’t work on JUnit 5 support for the 2.x line. Furthermore we agreed that I ask the JUnit team to officially donate their provider code to the maven project so that we can start working on the integration. Next I talked to Marc Philipp from the JUnit team and asked him what might be the best way for them to donate the code. We agreed that they will provide their code unchanged. I’ve created SUREFIRE-1330 [1] and Marc already uploaded a src archive of the provider code. The provider code is ALv2 license and all contributors agreed to the terms of the license [2]. So I think we can now start work on integrating the provider code.
