In my opinion onmy M9 would be worth it but I don't think users care too so we should go with 3.0.0, do other Mx in 3.0.x and if we want to tackle M9 items do a 3.1.0 (but not sure it bothers that much to be honest, it is more about being "clean" than anything else IMHO).
