In general I think it's not a good idea to do this. I've set up an internal web server for our maven repository and it's working well. I use Jetty so that we can deliver a zip of jetty (containing the maven repository as a subdir) and the integration team and just unzip it and start jetty, without installing or configuring anything other than the ip address for the remote repository in their build.properties.
