Hi Alex,

The current thinking on this is that we will handle generated source trees in Maven natively, but only support one source tree (although things like tests and cactus can have their own tree as well and utilise the compiler).

This technique just makes multiple source trees possible if wanted, though if it really is needed we'd like to know your use case!

Cheers,
Brett

Hi all,

Is this FAQ entry here still the means to add additional source
directories?

Is there a better way than using the maven.xml at this point. Also
looks like this issue here for adding this functionality as an
improvement was canceled. I know the reason for canceling it must have
been a good one but what was the reason? Just curious.

Ooops forgot the link into JIRA here ya go:

http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MAVEN-723

Sorry bout that!

Thanks much,
Alex
