transitive dependencies leave you powerless against the metadata of other
projects.
In some cases, you will know better what dependencies you really need, so a
project should be able to filter out certain dependencies or versions of
dependencies (this will likely come through in the dependency mediation issue),
or perhaps not receive any transitive dependencies from a certain project.
