Hi Brett,
We removed the use of style/xslt ant task some months ago to resolve
this issue with jdk 1.5 :

(patch : http://jira.codehaus.org/secure/attachment/13203/pdf.patch)
Personally, I would prefer to use it but I didn't find a solution with
maven 1.0 and ant 1.5.X
