conclusions (if any) to JIRA, ok?).
If you upgrade your plugin and suddenly links doesn't work that's something that I would call broken.
I concede that point and I have expressed my worries about it in my
original post. However, it only get's broken because we correct some
wrong behavior in the old version. Do you think that backwards
compatibility is more important than bug fixing?
Also, requiring all sections to supply an id if they want to be referencable is
not something I like, it should be an optional way to override the generated
name.
Well, I think that's the price to pay for being referencable. Something
that should be referencable necessarily needs to have a unique
identifier. Section names (titles) are *not* ids because they can be
anything.
The generated documentation *should* be valid XHTML, so if the spec has
deprecated the element we should use whatever they has as a replacement.
As explained on the w3c link cited above, the replacement is the id tag :).
