-X -e in most cases does not provice any extra info
---------------------------------------------------
Key: MNG-1393
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-1393
Project: Maven 2
Type: Improvement
Versions: 2.0
Reporter: Tony Steele
Priority: Minor
A general comment is that most of my time is wasted in trying to do things in
Maven 2 due to lack of dianostic information in its output, in most cases
exceptions are of the null pointer type and -X tells you nothing extra.
Maven 1 provides info such as property values names and locatiions of files
being processed etc, and most time meaningful error messages.
I suspect that the volume of posting to the forum would go done if it was
easier for users to sort out the mistkes they are making.
Perhaps a drive to improve support for -X in the core and core plugins would
save users a lot of time in trying to diagnose what is going wrong with here
config.
