the artifact created in the jar plugin can have a handler created for it - the 
default is to use extension = type, so its possible. But unless they are 
something special (demanding a new plugin), I don't see why they can just be 
renamed later and stored in the repository as jars.

I've never heard of a .har or a .spring, but I don't understand the recent 
proliferation of new extensions for jars. A jar by any other name is still a 
jar - call it a jar!
