I imagine that 90% of what people do will be covered by the standard lifecycle, 5% of people might make custom lifecycle and 5% might need to do some really weird stuff with a big pile of rope like the pre-pre-compile. I think the majority of people would use the standard lifecycle where possible and resort to the less encourage approached only where absolutely necessary. If all we have is two cases which might require lifecycle alterations then the pre/post decoration maybe not be required. But it's the things that we can't think about that we should try to account for. Sometimes you may not want to create a plugin to trigger a customized lifecycle for a simple decoration.
