First of all we can have more then one pom within the project and each pom is an invividual entity. Not to mention that using modal dialog for editing anything more or less complicated is really bad idea. So far the plan is to create editor with tabs where each tab would show some part of pom using forms. Alternative appoach is to organize these groups in a tree table (sumilar to WTP xml editor) using logical (non-xml) structure.
