The offline mode for some reason is not really 'offline' in the common
understanding of the word. Perhaps one of the developers can clarify the
semantics of the offline mode in a maven build?

Thanks, I do vaguely remember offline mode not being truely offline.
I've tried copying my personal .settings.xml into the local repository
defined by the tests, but MavenEmbedder doesn't appear to load it up.
I haven't spent a lot of time looking into this yet. I will probably
try to see if I can programatically load the settings file. Unless
someone can offer better advise.
