I strongly encourage Maven experts to chime in and make their

I already did the last time we had a vote. What was the result of
that vote and where is there another poll?

Why was the last vote not definitive?

No one actually tabulated the result. In anycase, that vote was
specifically whether they stay on people.apache.org or go to central.
Now, infrastructure as mandated that they NOT stay on people.apache.org.

Then if it's not on people then we can set something up where you can deploy directly to central. That's not hard to setup and I would be happy to set this up and according to the distribution policies you're free to do this.

I've already been told by OSU OSL that they have no room for a Maven repository so if nothing can be hosted on Apache hardware physically and infra is not willing to help or doesn't care then we can just deploy to central. This will actually make life much easier.

Currently on the Maven PMC have access to the central machine but I'm sure all of us would agree to expand this group. At some point in the future we'll have automated processes to help maintain things, but in the short term I would be happy to put you up for access to help out. Even if was only to maintain the projects you were involved with. This is the only way something like this is going to scale.

I think we would also be happy to give access to folks like Ivy if they want to help clean things up. It's a community resource and if we're going to clean it up and make it work we'll have to expand the set of people we have processing things like upload bundles and making tools.

They have to go to a mirror of some sort. Thus, the new poll is more
of the choice between central or the normal apache mirrors. Subtle,
but important, difference.

Just send it all to central, we can set something up pretty quickly and just be done with this nonsense.

Jason.
