a release before the vote has passed is not what is described at [1].
This is the new Maven release process. It is on the web here:

I made a few clarification which hasn't been deployed yet. You can read
the latest in svn:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/site/trunk/src/site/apt/developers/release/releasing.apt
The new version tags make continuum (temporarily) unhappy [2,3].
That's unfortunate. I don't know how to get around that...
I can't build the doxia site from trunk now because it has a dependency
on doxia-maven-plugin-1.0-alpha-9, which is not released yet, and I
can't install it locally because it's version is already at
1.0-alpha-10-SNAPSHOT...
You can download doxia-maven-plugin-1.0-alpha-9 from the staging
repository (see release vote thread) if you need to use it right away.
Is there something I am missing or I should read about?
