I wish I would have caught this on all the releases in the last several months, but....
The -sources jar that is generated does not contain the required NOTICE and LICENSE files. Thus, it's not releasable according to Apache rules. The "fix" is to update the version of the maven-source-plugin that is used to either back down to 2.0.2 or forward to 2.0.4. Unfortunately, the maven parent pom currently has it locked to 2.0.3 which is broken. Until we can get a new version of the parent ready, (and then the plugins parent), I'd suggest locking it to 2.0.4 in your pom temporarily. Carlos and I have done that for the release plugin and the source plugin for the remote-resources pom so I can get that release done.
