The exception is producable with 2.5-SNAPSHOT ( build from source ),
2.4.1-SNAPSHOT( at apache snapshot repo).
surefire 2.3 and 2.3.1 are fine.
When you say "since 2.4" do you mean that it worked in 2.4.0 but fails in
2.4.1? You only mention that Surefire 2.3.x worked.
At first blush, this doesn't particularly look like a Surefire issue,
though I'm sure it must be since you tell me that Surefire 2.3 works fine.
Please file a bug with a reduced test case (in the form of a minimal Maven
project that demonstrates the problem) so we can estimate the impact of
the bug.
