Hi,
I'd like to move most of the current site into Maven as versioned
documentation. Basically the same as I started for Archiva which I
felt worked very well:
http://maven.apache.org/archiva/
http://maven.apache.org/archiva/docs/1.0.1/index.html
Any objections?
What portions of the site? I think we have a complete mess currently,
and swizzling things around without some plan I don't think is going
to get us anywhere. If you look at Google Analytics we'll see see that
almost nothing is accessed off the home page. So I think a reduction
and plan is really in order first.
I'm not down with with pushing everything around without some idea of
what's going to happen.
Versioned release notes are definitely a great idea. Changes in the
core from release to release are fairly minor and so I think the
structure of what we have is fine with a pointer to the bits that have
changed.
What do you as versioned versus not. Most of what we have their off
the landing page is applicable to all versions right now.
I'd also like to work on the release notes for 2.0.9 to make them a
bit more like the new and noteworthy stuff from eclipse so that we
can see what the real main enhancements are rather than using the
announcement format. Thoughts?
Go for it.
Cheers,
Brett
