yes you can remove them from trunk. Maven 1.1 (http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/maven-1/core/tags/maven-1.1) uses Maven Model 3.0.2 ( http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/components/tags/maven-model-3.0.2/).
