In the US we're honestly fine with Contegix, we don't have any service issues. 
What would help the infrastructure the most is encouraging the use of 
repository managers. So if you use Nexus and help promote that fact, it will 
have the highest impact in distributing the load.

Setting up an official Nexus repository for that like we do at Apache, 
Codehaus, JBoss and then letting that be a feeder into central is probably the 
most sensible path. We'll help you setup a Nexus repository, and for OSS use 
you can use Nexus Pro which is what's used at all the OSS forges these days.
