I agree with you regarding the deficiencies in the site and in the Javadoc, but if these are true, then we should consider the fact that we are releasing a beta of one of the most important and widespread used Maven plugins. Otherwise, we'd effectively disable a lot of functionality that is in place right now. Which is nothing a beta should do.
