It's just been fixed. I'll see if I can schedule a round of minor bugfix releases late next week.
We're looking at compiler-plugin and surefire ( 2-3 minimal fixes needed to make 2.12.4 next parent-pom version) In the meantime you can update plexus-compiler-javac dependency in the compiler-plugin to 1.9.2 to fix the problem.
