most projects do a mix of 2 and 3, depending on what the desired output is, but
#3 is the easiest and would just make it a requirement for the build. no need
to do via your own install on the build slaves, i'm on infra and can help with
this. libsasl2 (libsasl2-2, libsasl2-modules, libsasl2-dev) packages are now
available on all build slaves (i'm finishing installing the dev package now).
if you need help modifying your config scripts let me know
