as of the latest updates on the website to middleman (MESOS-829) there is no
more stripping of the .md extension as markdown in only used in the source and
not anywhere within the generated site. Also in the config I have it set to
create a proxy for all the pages in documentation/latest to documentation/ so
as to not need the .htaccess anymore.
