Below are notes from this week's MesosCon program committee meeting.
5/15/2014 Attendees Dave Lester, Chris Aniszczyk, Matt Trifiro, Isabel Jimenez, Ben Hindman, Timothy St. Clair Attendee/registration update Latest numbers: 38 Registrants (25 are also LinuxCon attendees). According to the Linux Foundation, 95% of attendees typically register after the program is announced, so we can expect these numbers to grow significantly once the program is finalized. Sponsorship Update In the past week we were approached by an adopter as a potential Gold sponsor. We hope to see more adopters come forward as sponsors. We've planned a phonecall with a potential hackathon sponsor for next Tuesday. Ideally, this hackathon would take place the day after the MesosCon event. The prospective sponsor for an evening reception has passed on the opportunity this year. Still actively looking for a sponsor to take that on. Waiting to hear back from potential Media sponsorship with an update. Keynote Update Ben Hindman is a confirmed keynote speaker, and will give a “State of Mesos” talk. BenH is also reaching out to a prospective keynote speaker and will report back to the group. Submitted talks / CFP CFP deadline is this Friday. 4 talks submitted so far. Number is low, but we expect a rush of proposals in the 24 hrs. Theme of submitted talks so far: Docker+Mesos. Members of the program committee are aware of at least 6 additional talks that will be submitted before deadline. Hoping for more. Review Process for Proposals Next Monday morning, a survey will be launched to get community feedback on MesosCon proposals. A mock Google form was created and discussed by the committee. The committee will ultimately use this feedback to inform decisions related to which sessions to schedule for the MesosCon program. -- @davelester Open Source Advocate | Twitter, Inc
