I share same thoughts as James and George. Right from its inception and incubation proposal, metron had a specific focus - advanced security analytics. As stated on first line of the incubator proposal: "The Metron project is an open source project dedicated to providing an extensible and scalable advanced security analytics tool."
There are bunch of other generic real time stream platforms. For that matter Storm itself is one such platform. Metron need not to be another Storm or Storm++ or anything like that. Metron should live up to its original promises. Being able to use it as generic real time processing accelerator/analytics platform may be just a byproduct of it but not really the core goal. On a lighter note, referencing wikipedia's metron quote, "As long as metron understands its own metron and stays within its orbit, you have little problems." :) On Mon, Apr 25, 2016 at 4:48 PM, George Vetticaden < [email protected]> wrote: > IN my opinion, metron needs to be focused on Security and not become a > generic ³real-time streams² or generic ³analytics framework², or generic > anything.Once you start to get into that territory, you are trying to boil > the ocean and it becomes very hard to focus on a problem at hand.
