Having just done the same thing myself, a generalized version/framework
would be nice. I have the code for listening to both the UDP and TCP
sides. I also used dnsjava for the line level and message encoding stuff
with dnsjnio's async lookup. Sounds like we're all fairly close to each
other.
Hi Michael,
your name sounded familiar, so I checked with google and I found that
you are the author of the NAPTR stuff, right?
Yep... That's me! Two communities are using NAPTR these days: the VOIP
community is using it in ENUM for routing VOIP calls and several
communities are using NAPTR records for looking up URNs (the largest is
EPCglobal and RFID tags).
It is good to know that you are here and I hope we'll successfully
collaborate toward a common goal.
Thanks! I'm not sure how active I'll be since once I'm done with this
project I'm off to something else. But I do know that my client desires
to Open Source this stuff. More on that later...
As a starting point I would also like to involve dnsjava and dnsjnio
author in the task (as active contributors or at least as reviewers),
then we should put on the table what we already have and what we are
willing to contribute.
If we end up not being able to get dnsjava in, I can at least help with
getting all of the DNS record types into whatever we end up with. By
necessity I've gotten good at parsing DNS packets. ;-)
DNSSEC is another thing altogether...
