The reason for separating the ssl-filter module in 1.0 was to because
filter-ssl requires Java 5 and MINA was targeting Java 1.4. We had to keep
them separate in 1.1 to keep API compatibility with 1.0 even though 1.1
targeted Java 5.
It makes sense to me to merge filter-ssl into into core in trunk.
