DemuxingProtocolCodecFactory is somewhat monolithic and needs polishing. It
would be more elegant to provide DemuxingProtocolEncoder and
DemuxingProtocolDecoder separately, and to implement
DemuxingProtocolCodecFactory by combining the two.
