Feature: Managed File Transfer Module for the FTP Server
Hello,
I am introducing Apache FtpServer to our enterprise to kick our COTS product
out.
I think managed file transfer module/feature will act as catalyst for any FTP
server product adoption. Now that the API is sold and stable, it is time to
take the product to the next level. I personally think building an intuitive
and simple MFT module will greatly benefit the adoption.
And that's exactly what we are doing. I hope in another couple of months I can
submit my work to you guys.
Here are is the high level Synopsys.
- A admin web interface to the FTP Server so that ftp admin(s) on the fly make
necessary changes to the configurations and to see current transfers (Ease of
use for administrator)
- Allow an employee or user within the enterprise to create an account and
also allow the user to grant necessary privileges to share the file with
others. (Shareability)
- Allow users to setup necessary notification on uploads, downloads, failures,
pending pickup, etc.
- Allow users to report on past uploads, downloads, retries, etc. (SOX
compliance!)
Though we can do many other things on this front, I would start here
