Difference between readbuffersize and receivebuffersize

Hi,

would it be possible to give me just a short explanation (and use) of 
the different buffer sizes? I found that the implementation of the 
NioListener in 
trunk/core/src/main/java/org/apache/ftpserver/listener/nio decreases the 
size of the receivebuffer to 512 byte and ask me why?
