How do you define "component" and "module" in this case? Component talking to
the server over the component protocol while a module runs in-process with the
server? If so, I'm all for enabling both of these modes. However, I think in
either case, XEP-0045 MUC (that says nothing about other modules/components of
course) is pretty much designed for running on a subdomain rather than the same
domain as the server. So, from the MUC implementation point of view, there is
no need for any further support than routing per subdomain. Again, other
modules might have other needs.
