Fail to reproduce it even then (using Adium). I used the test string from: http://www.craiglotter.co.za/2010/11/02/a-test-string-for-utf-8-and-internationalization-work/ and it was properly decoded and received: stanza.server DEBUG > <message xmlns="jabber:client" to="[email protected]" id="purple4b3a7204" type="chat" from="[email protected]/b85a882b85554144a84d9af643ab0cc6"><active xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/chatstates"></active><body>Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn</body><html xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/xhtml-im"><body xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><em>Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn</em></p></body></html></message> Any chance of getting a dump (hex or otherwise) of what your client sends? /niklas
