We can't backport the changes made in 2.1 to 2.0, it breaks things in other projects, this is why we released 2.0.19. The idea is to move forward with a 2.1 with some API changes. When it will be time, we will move 2.0 to maintenance mode.
Anyway, we have had this discussion 6 months ago, and it's probably time to move forward :-)
