I am not sure how such an API would work - at least not in any simple way. In
any case, since such an API involves a +lot+ of time for designing, developing
and testing, but does not seem to have any current real-life demand (you are
the 1st who ever requested it). In view of this, I do not think we can afford
to invest the +extremely+ few R&D resources we have on it.
I am not closing this request so that it can be viewed by others and maybe gain
enough support to warrant our involvement or maybe we will get to it if we
somehow obtain more R&D resources, You are more than welcome to develop such an
API and publish a PR for it - we more than welcome contributions from our users.
