This issue was assigned to milestone [2.17.0](https://github.com/apache/mina-sshd/milestone/13), which has no due date. I would think that answers both questions. In general we cannot commit to any particular timeline for releases. We're short of active volunteers; and the few who are active do all the work in their free time.
