hi,
I have installed moblin2 on a device equipped with a PATA harddrive.
Moblin2 use seradahead to improve bootup time.
sreadahead is optimized for solid state devices, which means
it has an assumption that the "seek time" is nearly zero.
However, this assumption is not true for PATA hard drive.

I think if the file list in /etc/readahead.pack can be re-mapped to a
contiguous blocks,
the bootup time can be improved.
Is there any utility can re-map the boot files on EXT3 to a contiguous
blocks? ( to reduce seek time )
Or is there any project focus on this topic?

we have a plan to deal with this; we'll be working on that in the next 2 weeks
or so.
pure disk order isn't the right answer either; we'll have an interesting hybrid
:)
