Hi Petter,

The Design intent behind zones is that they should not be persistent, named
places that you grow attached to but created and destroyed on demand. This way
the experience scales to your usage.

Not sure exactly about the API etc. for that, startup notifications etc. which
is currently being changed as I remember. Someone who actually does programming
can help I suspect.

There isn't yet a way of adding or removing panels on the toolbar without
recompiling the software.

Nick

Subject: [Moblin Dev] Moblin 2 zones/toolbar

Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding the existing or planned set of features
for the "zones" concept in the new Moblin 2 beta.

- Is there a way to programmatically enumerate or query the active zones? This
would be useful if an app wants to control switching focus to a specific zone.
On that topic, is there a way to name zones so that they can be identified or
categorized?
- Are there plans to make zones persistent? To be more specific, can a specific
zone id or category persist after reboot (not sleep)?

Also, is there a way to integrate applications with the new Moblin toolbar
(task item or system info section) similar to the Hildon status bar plug-in
functionality?

/Petter
