Thanks Arjan for your help.
I am able to install the Boot Chart tool on Moblin. But the time
reported by the tool seems to be the Boot Time of the OS (time taken by
BIOS is not included). Attached is the chart obtained with the boot
chart tool. The Boot chart shows the time around 18 secs but the time
measured by Stop Clock shows 21 secs.
BOOTTIME we need to calculate is the time from the point where the power
switch is turned on, to the point where the user can start doing work in OS.
I have a binary which uses HPET Timer to calculate the Boot time
(including time taken by BIOS) and we are using special BIOS for this to
initialize the HPET.
I have following questions
*1. **How does this Boot Chart tool calculate the Boot time?*
the number of the graph is not the boot time; it's the time of what was
measurement.
we call the boot done when both CPU and Disk go idle (and stay idle if there's
no user interaction)
*2. **How to invoke a script at the startup in Linux similar to
windows startup?*
before I can answer that question you need to specify exactly when you want
that to run....
