Alt-F1 through Alt-F6 will take you to the respective text consoles on
most Linux distros. I'm not positive about Moblin, as I don't use it
regularly, (it's still a little too rough around the edges for me),
but on older systems you could enable/disable specific consoles by
editing /etc/inittab. On Fedora 11 however (and I'm not sure what
release changed it), the ttys are configured in /etc/event.d/tty[1-6],
so you could check there as well. Hopefully that gets you started down
the right track, but just remember that those text ttys are your
backup when all else fails, so think twice before removing all of them
completely.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your answer.

Maybe I didn't make myself understood. The problem I met is when I started moblin at runlevel 5, I got the X window. And then I can use Alt+F1 to switch to tty1, but in Fedora it needs *Ctrl*+Alt+F1 to switch to tty1.

And right now I find the reason. The /etc/rc.sysinit installed by fastinit run "/sbin/console_init /dev/tty0" to reload keymaps according to /etc/sysconfig/keyboard. When I comment it, it is only "*Ctrl*+Alt+F1" can switch to tty1 instead of "Alt+F1".

Right now I just wonder what is this action for? Is this for speed up or something?

Thanks!

Hi All,

I installed the moblin-netbook-beta-refresh-20090818-001.iso. And when I
press *Alt+F1*, I jump to the first text console. Is this a bug, or we
intend to do so? And which package provides this functionality because I
want to disable it.

Thanks,
