   hi,
   thanx abdelghani.
   Out of curiosity
   1) Why do netbooks need a different OS?

Netbooks can run many OS ( Moblin, Windows , Fedora ... etc .. ), you
have to chose one which is suitable for your use ( light & fast OS,
because netbooks doesn't have as much resources as laptops or desktops
   )

   2) Linux can run on anything so why not Linux?

Linux is the kernel not the OS, you can use Fedora GNU/Linux .

   3) In this multi-core world why do we need netbooks?

".. Netbooks (also called mini notebooks or [1]subnotebooks) are a
rapidly evolving^[2][1] category of small, light and inexpensive
[3]laptop computers suited for general computing and accessing
[4]web-based applications; they are often marketed as "companion
devices," that is, to augment a user's other computer access.^[5][1]
[6]Walt Mossberg called them a "relatively new category of small,
light, minimalist and cheap laptops." ^[7][2] By August 2009, [8]CNET
called netbooks "nothing more than smaller, cheaper notebooks."^[9][1]
   ..."

   4) Being a CS student I am very curios about the architecture of
netbooks, can anybody please give me some good papers or links? Google
is giving me a lot of unwanted
   stuffs([10]http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=architecture+of+netbo
   oks&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B5_____enIN337IN337&ie=UTF-8).
I apologize if my questions appear too noob.
   Thank You
   shan

   Hi shan,
if you boot your main system from USB, this will not affect your hard
drive at all.. It will only use USB stick.

I dont have a backup of the main system and the data is very valuable,
i dont want to mess it.
So please can you provide any alternate solution.

Why you don't boot your main system from USB which contains a moblin
