You could use usbmodeswitch in conjunction with the usbserial driver, I've used it for the "alcatel ot x020" and I've written something about that on my blog: http://www.xappsoftware.com/wordpress/2008/12/26/using-alcatel-ot-x020-with-linux-usbserial/
