If a demon for that need's root, i think you should think the demon design over. It should only have to talk to a input device, the best way i all common unix environments if to grant access to this device to the user logged in. e.g. a correct chmoding of the device in /devs the details of the device and how this is done in moblin i have not studied yet. If this can't be done I would go for the sudo approach. --
