Your boot order in eeepc 100 must point to to the usb HD as the the first drive to boot. You can set this by going into the boot menu at start up ( probably F1, F2 or F10 key). If that still does not work, re create the boot image with win32diskmanager again. sometimes the image might not have been written right. It has worked for me with acer netbook and a couple of other pcs as well.

(it is in the correct slot, the machine recognizes it when plugged. now I think I understood that the drive must be bootable (i thought transferring the image with win32diskimager would do this automatically. the famous hp usb storage tool cannot be found anywhere. this is a lame problem i admit. maybe someone cares to help me. thanks in advance.
