The purpose is to identify the Moblin device that is connected to a PC host. If the Moblin-based MID is connected to a desktop PC via USB cable, like the current popular solution in Android and WindowMobile, the PC should have ability to identify such a Moblin device by a unique ID and then communicate it.
Take Linux as PC host for example, the Moblin device connected to it will be visible through a DBUS interface with 'GetDevice(unique ID)' returning it. It may be a property that will be customized by OEM on Moblin-based MID. -----Original Message----- From: Li, Yan I Sent: Friday, November 20, 2009 3:13 PM To: Min, Hongbo Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Moblin Dev] Is there any unique ID for each Moblin system? What's your purpose here? FWIW, you can use FS's ID, they are unique: $ dumpe2fs /dev/sda1 | grep UUID -- Best regards, Li, Yan Moblin Team, Opensource Technology Center, SSG, Intel Office tel.: +86-10-82171695 (inet: 8-758-1695) OpenPGP key: 5C6C31EF IRC: yanli on network irc.freenode.net _______________________________________________ Moblin dev Mailing List [email protected] To manage or unsubscribe from this mailing list visit: http://lists.moblin.org/listinfo/dev or your user account on http://moblin.org once logged in.
