The kernel will build fine on a 64-bit system in a Moblin chroot. I'd
opened a bugzilla item for this some months ago with a patch to the
.spec file required for this to work successfully.
FWIW, I build custom Moblin kernels with a simple:
rpmbuild -ba --target=i586 /path/to/kernel.spec
