This is not unique to Moblin.  There were a couple Poulsbo binary driver 
releases for this chipset several years ago, but they were not maintained by 
the vendor.  So distributions that use modern kernel versions probably are not 
able to support this graphics HW.

Thanks for pointing that out guys, Moblin seemed the best option for the
tiny device but I never heard about the GMA500 stuff until you answered,
will try Mandrive on it and it seems they have the Moblin ui available
and in the one version Poulsbo support.
