hibernate3 plugin stopped looking for properties file and insists on xml config

Last week I was able to you a hibernate.properties file to give the plugin all
it needed to run the goals I need.
Today when I ran hbm2java a new snapshot was downloaded and all of a sudden I
started getting an error that it couldn't find the hibernate.cfg.xml.
I actually don't use the xml configuration file at all because everything is
done programatically and I only need a few minor properties so that the plugin
can do its work.
