Sorry I think you did not try it with castor 1.1.1 - after a test you should
realized that the castor code generator has spilted from the main project and
its located in a seperate project.
And I belief that the code generator API has changed!
The new maven-2 dependency for the Maven 2.x Castor Plugin should be:

<artifactId>castor-codegen</artifactId>
